Get ready for the 2013 growing season with a weekend break to see the 28th Malvern Spring Gardening Show. With dozens of displays, prize-winning show gardens, talks and demonstrations and other attractions, this is a show to inspire hardy perennials and young buds alike. Malvern is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, source of the famous spring water but also inspiration for the music of Edward Elgar, the poetry of WH Auden, and the fantastical imaginations of CS Lewis and his hill-walking companion JRR Tolkien. And if all that doesn’t plant a few artistic seeds, we also include a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon, home of the Bard and the Royal Shakespeare Company. This tour is organised and operated by Omega Events Ltd ABTA Y590X

Day 1 - We depart in the morning from your local area for some free time at Stratford-upon-Avon, the Warwickshire wattle and daub birthplace of William Shakespeare. The famous Ann Hathaway Cottage is just a mile out of town, or you could head for the Old Town’s Sheep Street and the award-winning Tudor World, built on the site of Shrieves House and once the original abode of William Rogers, friend of the Shakespeares and reputedly the inspiration behind the character of John Falstaff. If you’re mad for modernity, just down the street is the MAD Museum of Mechanical Art and Design, where Heath Robinson meets arthouse automata crossed with steampunk gizmos and water-powered whirligigs.† For the naturalist there is a butterfly farm, a quick flutter across the nearby bridge, in a landscaped greenhouse full of ponds, waterfalls ... and butterflies. For the resolutely sedate there are open air sightseeing tour buses, and three different boat operators offering scenic boat trips at modest rates. In the mid to late afternoon we’ll rejoin the coach and continue to your hotel in time for dinner and your overnight stay. Day 2 - After a full English breakfast we will set off for the weekend’s main event, the Malvern Spring Gardening Show. Known for being one of the friendliest shows run by the Royal Horticultural Society, Malvern 2013 features a Floral Marquee with 100 nurseries, a Show Garden Theatre, a Painting with Plants Gallery, a Live Landscaping demonstration, an Allotment Theatre, and top horticultural experts holding talks and Q&A sessions. With all this, plus 500 trade stands, refreshments, a Best of Gardening Gadgets exhibition and even a special Dr Who 50th anniversary display, there simply won’t be time for the grass to grow under your feet before we start homeward in the mid to late afternoon. †Wheelchair access is limited as it is an old building.
This break is a day trip and therefore does not use a hotel
